The oldest surviving person confirmed by the organization is Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman born in January 1903, who has twice been diagnosed with cancer.

Seiti, who was living with his grandchildren, died peacefully on Thursday morning, the family quoted as saying.

It was ranked among the top ten living adults in China by the China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics in 2013 and has held the record ever since.

With a total of 43 grandchildren, the woman is still alive until the birth of her sixth generation, the report said.

In 1903, at the age of 17 she got married and is said to had a son and a daughter with her husband who died in 1976.

Her first caregiver, granddaughter Kuerban Nuer, is quoted as saying that she enjoyed singing and dancing and had a habit of listening to the radio every day. He said "Her feet were rhythmic while listening to music on the radio before going to bed."
