The MIG-21 Bison is the only MIG-21 type to work with the IAF. The last four MIG-21 teams will be eliminated in the next four years.
Many MiG-21 accidents have been reported this year only. The plane has been dubbed the "flying box" as it regularly reports crash news. The government had told Parliament in May 2012 "From 1971 to April 2012, about 482 MiG planes crashed, killing 171 pilots, 39 civilians, 8 crew members and one plane due of both human error and technical disability.
