The farmers also called on the government to drop the charges against them on various charges related to violence during the unrest.

Farmers continued to close the Punjab railway line for four days in a row, disrupting more than 280 trains, officials said on Thursday. Farmers under the auspices of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee have been protesting in various parts of Punjab, demanding complete withdrawal of loans and compensation for the families of those who died during the year-long anti-farm laws.

The farmers also called on the government to drop the charges against them on various charges related to violence during the unrest.

Neeraj Sharma, chief public relations officer,," The movement of more than 280 trains has been affected in the last 24 hours by the farmers protests in the Firozpur Division of the Northern Railway" said in a statement.  "More than 400 trains were affected in the last four days of protests," Sharma said.

As a result of the unrest, Divisional Railway Manager at Ferozepur branch Seema Sharma on Wednesday said management had set up help desks at all stations to provide all possible directions to passengers regarding changes to the system or cancellation if any.

"We are trying to drive trains between remote stations to avoid problems for passengers," he said.

Farmers have been drowning on the railway tracks at various locations in Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur since Monday.

But on Wednesday, they escalated their riots at the Moga and Fazilka railway stations.

Farmers' union leader Satnam Singh Pannu said the protesters would not leave the track until their demands were met.
